The Bohemian is my vision of and Iconic rock n’ roll classic. Expanding on work that I have done in the past.
The current Bohemian modal as of Jan 2017 is basically a neck through design.
The construction is reversed from what would be considered a normal build. The top and sides of the instrument are one block of wood, hogged out to create a specific internal cavity and long internal cavity for the neck. With this design, the neck extends just past the bridge. Having extend further would only add to the weight of the instrument. The guitar fully loaded weights under 7 pounds. That is very light for a neck block of that length.
The neck is dropped into the body of the instrument from the back and then back is glued on and bound. This construction allows for much lighter weight and yet does not sacrifice the sustain and tone. This is by far is the best version of this guitar that I have ever made.
The headstock design is not new it has been used by numerous brands over the years, but it is highly functional as it allows for a relatively straight pull of the strings over the nut. This guitar features a very small headstock angle to reduce the friction which facilitates better tuning stability.
The Bohemian body features a solid mahogany top, sides and back. The Fully extended mahogany neck is fit with a 24 fret, 24/3/4” (628) scale length Indian rosewood fingerboard. Aslin Dane 15:1 gear ratio diecast tuner’s.
We have chosen our own “Full contact System™” tremolo bridge for the ultimate contiguous surface to surface contact and string energy transfer. This bridge uses an aluminum alloy string block to reduce weight and enhance sustain.
The three pickups are “mini 58’s” Mini humbucker incorporating Alnico 5 magnets for that rich full tone. But hang on there’s more. The switching system allows for each pickup to be independently turned on or off. There is also a second set of switches that allow for each pickup to used in either series or parallel modes. This gives an exhausting plethora of sound possibilities. To control all of that you have one master Volume and two independent tone controls. The first tone control is for the neck pickup only. The second tone control is for the middle pickup only. The bridge is wide open and unrestricted power and tone.
